THE DAY I STOPPED FOLLOWING WHAT IS RIGHT ACCORDING TO THE SOCIETY🏆

There comes a moment in everyone’s life when they realize that the rules they’ve been following weren’t really their own. That moment came to me like a quiet whisper at first, then like a loud storm I couldn’t ignore. Hi, I am Aanya and here I welcome you to my other best decision of my life. It was the day I decided to stop living by what was "right" according to society and start living by what felt right to me. It’s so annoying to walk on the path that someone else has made for us.

I am a girl who loves to create her own rules and loves to break others' rules. I am a free-spirited person and I love doing that is something outside my league.
From an early age, we are taught how to behave, what to aspire to, and even what kind of life we should live to be "successful." Study hard, get a stable job, marry at the right age, dress a certain way, speak a certain way—there’s an unspoken checklist that society hands us. I always get annoyed doing all of these things on my own, but have to do all of these things just because, from an early age, people used to teach us saying that if you do and walk in our path, you will be called a good girl. I had no other option because who doesn’t want that tag?
At a very young age, I caught myself staring into the mirror, feeling like a stranger in my own life. The choices I made weren’t mine; they were borrowed from the expectations of family, culture, and tradition. That was the moment I asked myself What if I stopped following these rules? What if I started listening to my own voice instead? It was terrifying but liberating. The thought of disappointing people scared me, but the thought of disappointing myself scared me even more.

Society was harsh on me. I don’t have to pressurize myself much because I have a great family who love and respect my feelings, decisions and attitude towards everything. They have supported me in everything till now by God's grace. I have never had to ask myself again since that day about my decision.
So, I started making small but meaningful changes. I pursued passions, did what I always wanted to do. I spoke my mind without filtering it to fit into what was "acceptable." I allowed myself to wear clothes that expressed my personality rather than what was expected of me. I said no to traditions that didn’t align with my values. The reactions were mixed. Some people admired my courage; others saw it as rebellion. But for the first time, I felt free. Free from the pressure to be someone I wasn’t. Free to redefine success on my own terms.

Walking away from the path that was laid out for me wasn’t easy, but it was necessary. Society will always have rules, traditions, and expectations, but at the end of the day, the only person who has to live with my choices is me. So, if you want to discover yourself even better, don’t think even twice about it just do it for yourself. It will not only enhance your personality, but you will feel even more independent and confident. The world will not understand, but your heart will. And that’s the only approval you need.
