TUMBBAD: WHERE GREED DANCES WITH THE GODS
Tumbaad was released in 2018 with new ideas and creative plot twists, but it was not able to gather more audience. This movie was directed by Rahil Anil Barve and co- directed by Adesh Prasad with the talented actor Sohum Shah playing a powerful role as Vinayak. This movie played with human emotions, realistic factors in the movie to keep up with human interests. It builds atmospheric tension.
The film stands out for its great and unique mode of storytelling and cinematography. The story depicts the village of Tumbbad, related to Maharashtran culture, and searching for a hidden treasure guarded by an ancient, cursed entity- Hastar. The story is surrounded by gods and demons, which give chills to the audience. It also depicts the story of how women were treated and how greediness can end the human and the content was served to the audience in a unique way. The VFX and CGI effects added more realism to the film. It is a mythological, horror, suspense, thriller movie that also shows fantasy and folklore blended in a movie very neatly.
But the start of the film may seem boring to people or people/ audience could not be able to catch the idea or concept quickly. Also, the climax may be predictable to the audience, but it remains deeply symbolic and thought-provoking.
Tumbaad is a masterpiece of Indian horror, which offers a mix of emotions and folklore, horror and the philosophy of greed. And it is a must-watch for fans of atmospheric horror and those cinema fans who are always looking for mythological-driven storytelling.
