HOLI TODAY: ULTIMATE FUN OR JUST AN EXCUSE TO RUIN CLOTHES?

As being a kid I loved playing this festival of colours. Holi is a festival filled with laughter, fun, sweets, interaction with people. The only festival I wait from since a long time to come so that I call be prepare myself and allow myself to have little extra fun on that day. The festival which is celebrated from years since as mentioned as duaparyug in which lord krishna ji was used to play with Radha ji. A festival which brings all people together. Holi is just not a festival but an expression of happiness and warm love in family.

As I have felt being an adult now. We all had divided the festivals into rich and poor. Somewhere we forgot that our festival is not for showcasing but a festival of sharing love all together. We all are running for the fame of photos, likes and posts We all are disconnecting from the actual meaning of Holi. People are getting ready in white clothes to make the festival in their own societies or going on a concerts to match the aesthetics of others. Now there’s a competition for gaining likes on their stories and posts rather than a competition who have more water balloons and water guns. We all somewhere has lost our sprit of enjoying the actual festival of colours. We used to chase our friends and come home back unrecognisable, drenched in the pure joy of the festival. But now, Holi feels like just another social media event more about capturing the perfect shot than creating real memories. Now it feels like we ‘ve made it too business oriented tricked with home parties, green bands. The simplicity of gathering with neighbourhood is being now overshadowed with social medias. Now people have fear of getting too messy and drenched with colours and some parents also don’t allow there children to play with others with the fear of getting drenched with colours and they’ve become more protective suddenly. Although Holika Dahan was a significant ritual where families gather to mark the triumph of good over evil a day before actual holi began. The excitement of preparing homemade sweets, dancing to folk songs and enjoying the festival with loved ones is now fading in the club music and celebrity DJs
It’s time to bring Holi back to what it truly stands for joy, connection, and carefree celebration. Instead of chasing the perfect picture let’s chase real moments. Instead of exclusive parties let’s celebrate with inclusivity. Ditch the pressure of looking “Holi-ready” and embrace the festival in its raw, playful form. Share colours, laughter, and sweets not just posts and stories. Let’s make Holi less about aesthetics and more about emotions, less about social media and more about real-life connections. Because the true beauty of Holi isn’t in how we look, but in how we feel.
